A Group on the platform of Kogi Liberation Movement has lamented the staff screening exercise being conducted by the state government has taken too long to conclude.
This is even as the group laments that the exercise has caused pains and discomfort to the Civil Servants and by extensions their dependents.
In a statement to LEADERSHIP signed by a co convener of the group, Awulu Attah, it read "The emergence of Governor Yahaya Bello was received with optimism by the generality of Kogites especially the youths because of his youthfulness, education and background, sadly 2 years down the road, it has been a pervading feeling of dashed hopes and expectations across the state, as his learning curve has remained abysmally low and shameful"
The statement stated that "KLM has taken the gauntlet to be the voice of the oppressed and cheated people of Kogi State, we shall hold the Government accountable for all its actions and inactions, provide alternative voice to the lies and morally convoluted tales by agents of the Government.
The statement read "We note that the staff screening exercise has taken too long to conclude and has caused pains and discomfort to the Civil Servants and by extensions their dependents, a demand is hereby made that the exercise be brought to a conclusive closure and salaries paid up to date"
The statement further alleged that the phantom decamping exercises in Dekina LGA and Kabba is a smokescreen by Governor Bello and his foot soldiers to kick start campaigns for the 2019 elections in defiance of the extant rules on campaigns for elections.
"We would have been delighted if all the shows were put up to commission new projects executed by the Bello led government or flag off new ones, alas those are not important considerations to Gov Bello and his lackeys" it read
Awulu noted that the Local Government administration is meant to complement those of both the Federal and State Governments. He however sadly noted that 18 months into the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello, Local Government administration is in a comatose state in Kogi State.
"Local Government elections have not been held and not in the contemplation of the Bello led government, rather puppets have been planted as Local Government Administrators and the accruing funds to the LGA's have been managed in a most transparently opaque manner"
The Group urged that the EFCC invokes its powers in section 7 of the EFCC act of 2003 to cause an investigation into the finances of the 21 local governments in Kogi State as well as the management of the Joint account. They should be rest assured that a can of worm will be opened.
The Group further lamented that "The plight of pensioners is pathetic, assuring that KLM stands in solidarity with their traumatized citizens and using this medium to tell them to remain steadfast as hope is on the way".
"We enjoin Kogites to remain steadfast in the face of maladministration, unprecedented looting of our collective patrimony and oppression by the Gov Bello led administration. This too shall pass away and we shall overcome"
The KLM is an amalgam of young, committed and passionate Kogites from the three Senatorial Districts of the state with a commitment to work with like minds to ensure the enthronement of a humane, pragmatic and accountable governments at both the state and Local government areas of the state and Membership opened to all patriotic and committed Kogites from the age of 18 – 45 years.
