A Senator representing Kogi Central, Senator Mohammed Ohiare and some former All Progressives Congress governorship aspirants have kicked against the choice of James Falake as running mate to the party’s candidate, Prince Audu Abubakar.
They also warned former governor of Lagos state and national leader of All Progressives Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stop meddling in the politics of the state.
Briefing newsmen yesterday, a chieftain of the party Chief Olu David Akinola who spoke on behalf of Senator Ohiare said other aspirants where bitter over the choice of Hon James Abiodun Faleke who is a member House of Representatives, representing Lagos.
According to him, Tinubu should not meddle into the affairs of Kogi politics, threatening to work against the party if Hon Faleke is not replaced with one of the aspirants who contested the party’s primary.
Akinola also chided the party’s candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu for acceding to the choice of Tinubu who is resident in Lagos and has lost touch with his people at home.
“We expect Audu to pick his running mate from among the aspirants that lost out to him, especially from the central senatorial zone and not from the west but to our surprise, Tinubu gave him someone and he accepted him.
“Tinubu should stay out of Kogi politics; we shall resist Faleke as deputy governor. We advice Audu to change him immediately or we will work against him in the general election”.
However one among the APC aspirants, Alh Yahaya Bello has defected to Social Democratic Party SDP. Bello is expected to fly the party’s ticket in the governorship election.
