Mom Tries to Dye Her Hair Like a Kardashian, What Happened Next Will Shock You

Amy Caddick went to the salon wanting a new ombré look inspired by Khloé Kardashian, but wound up in the emergency room fighting for her life instead, reports Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old mother of two left the salon impressed with the new 'do, which was darker at the roots and lighter at the tips, but two days later, her airways closed and almost suffocated her.


"I looked like the Elephant Man and the pain was agonizing," she said. "My kids were too scared to even look at me."

What began as an itchy scalp evolved into a life-threatening reaction. "My head was massive and the skin was weeping a clear liquid. My hair got knotted up in the pus, but that was the least of my worries." The swelling was even pressing on her brain. "They said my airwaves could have closed completely, which would have stopped me from breathing and eventually suffocated me," she said.

Caddick spent three days in the hospital, though the swelling in her face took a week to go down. The reaction could have been avoided if the hairdresser first tested her scalp for an allergic reaction to the dye. If Caddick had experienced a smaller-scale reaction, "I would never have agreed to go ahead with the treatment," she said.

It's an important reminder that (1) allergy testing is important and (2) looking like a celebrity is overrated.
