EFCC to arraign FCT minister’s former aide over N60m scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is set to arraign Muhammed Gital, a former chief of staff to the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed.
The spokesperson for the anti-graft agency, Wilson Uwujaren, said Mr. Gital will be arraigned on Thursday alongside Sani Abba, the Deputy Director, Mass Housing at the Federal Capital Development Authority.
Messrs. Gital and Abba are alleged to have been involved in a land scam.
They allegedly conspired and defrauded Duru Ejiogu, the managing director of Visioni and Strauss Nigeria Limited of N60 million.
The commission said the money said was collected on the pretext that it would be used to facilitate the change of Land Use in respect of Plot No: 523, Cadastral Zone BOO Kukwaba District, from Passive Recreation to Residential.
The accused will be arraigned before a FCT High Court in Jabi for offences bordering on criminal breach of trust, obtaining by false pretence and abuse of office.
