The acclaimed winner of the January 2011 of the People’s Democratic Party PDP primary election in Kogi state, Jibrin Isah Echocho has approached the Supreme Court again to challenge the decision of the Court of Appeal which dismissed the suit he brought to challenge the judgement of the federal high court which upheld the victory of Captain Idris Wada at the governorship election.
Echocho had in the first place dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC before a Federal High Court to challenge the conduct of governorship election in Kogi during the pendency of a suit before the apex court. Captain Idris Wada later joined as a respondent in the suit.

Justice Abdul Kafarati after hearing the suit dismissed Echocho’s suit on ground that it was a post election matter and same should have been directed to the state governorship election.
Not satisfied, Echocho had approached the Court of Appeal praying it to set aside the judgement of the lower court.

Delivering a unanimous judgement at the appellate court, Justice Akomolafe Wilson held that the lower court did not have jurisdiction to entertain the matter in the first place and hence the court was right when it declined jurisdiction.
The Court of Appeal however declined jurisdiction to consider the appeal and therefore dismissed the appeal and upheld the earlier judgement of the lower court.
Still not satisfied, Echocho is now at the apex court to challenge the decision of the two lower courts.

The needed developmental hope to be achieve by Wada administration is being slow down due court cases as the Governor is not stable in the office in other to ensure victory over Echocho, this is the most feeling of kogites that the court cases have actually hampered development as more state fund is being used to finance the case at the detriment of development.
It is the view of some Dekina indigenes that the duo Wada and Echocho should be settle out of court by the elders in the local government, especially as this the first time that the Dekina local government is a producing elected Governor since the creation of the state.
Some indigen of Dekina who earn their view suggested the case should be settle out of court but ask what will happen to the billions spent so far by Echocho during and after the primary.
Another person also suggested that the Supreme Court should set the record straight by giving judgment in favour of Echocho to serve as deterrent to future political occurrence in kogi state.
A political analyst also argued that it is the failure of our political leaders in kogi state and also the lack of political and development agenda of our elected and political office holder that affect our development in the state and not the court cases, he stress further that in a democratic setting it is attorney general of the state and individual lawyer that have much concerned in the court process. Development is self driven by government institution in a functional democratic system.
It is of the general view that until this political and court case crisis is being settled they needed development in kogi state by Wada may be a mere dream which may never come to reality as experience have showed by Idris Ibrahim and Abubakar Audu.
